Before joining Sure Systems, Matt Green spent eight years as a Rigging Technician in the Oil & Gas industry, a role that demanded precision, strength, and problem-solving under pressure. His passion for technology led him to pursue formal education in Software Development, which opened doors to roles at various ISPs and eventually to running his own IT services business as a sole proprietor. That diverse experience laid the groundwork for his current role at Sure Systems.
Supporting Clients and Mentoring New Talent
Today, Matt works in the Service Department, where he troubleshoots technical issues for clients both on-site and remotely. He’s also a key resource for onboarding new team members, helping train and guide them as they settle into their roles. “There’s always something to do and something new,” Matt says, a sentiment that reflects both the fast-paced nature of IT and his own love of learning.
Passions Beyond the Office
Matt’s interests span a wide range of creative and physical pursuits. He’s an avid programmer, enjoys working with Unreal Engine, and spends time rock climbing, experimenting with cocktails, and cooking. His intellectual curiosity is matched by his admiration for Nikola Tesla — “I have all the books,” he notes proudly.
One of Matt’s standout achievements is earning a LEEA Certificate, making him one of the first in Canada to do so, a testament to his drive to be at the forefront of his field.

Matt’s favorite superhero is Nightcrawler, drawn to the character’s rich backstory and complexity. His top book recommendation is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, and his favorite movie is V for Vendetta, a story he’s so passionate about that he owns three masks and the graphic novel. When it comes to travel, he loves Rock Lake Provincial Park, nestled between Hinton and Jasper. And for binge-worthy TV, Fringe tops the list, thanks to his fascination with time and physics.
